About me
Sandi Vilacoba is the owner of The Pilates Project. She was first introduced to Pilates while studying at New York University. She was amazed at how Pilates helped transform her body and manage her chronic lower back and hip pain. In 2003, after working for several years as a dancer and performer, she became certified to teach classical Pilates. She was trained at Power Pilates in New York City under the tutelage of Master Teachers Bob Liekens and Susan Moran and completed over 600 hours of apprenticeship before receiving her certification. In January of 2014, she gained her certification as a teacher trainer from Power Pilates.
Over the course of a decade as an instructor, Sandi has taught in several studios in the New York City-New Jersey metro area and has worked with clients ranging from the extremely fit to those who suffer from injuries and chronic pain. She believes Pilates can benefit people of all ages and physical abilities. Sandi is also a certified perinatal fitness instructor, having completed extensive training through Healthy Moms. Sandi is dedicated to continuing her education and increasing her knowledge of Pilates, biomechanics, and anatomy. She studies regularly with master Pilates instructors such as Shari Berkowitz and Alycea Ungaro. Sandi lives in the Jersey Shore area with her husband and 9-year-old twins.
